Jolly Mon Fishing Charters
Below is a list of questions we get asked the most often, and the answers to those questions. We hope you find this information useful in the planning of your fishing adventure with us. Please feel free to contact us at any time with additional questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you on board with Jolly Mon Charters!
What’s included in the price of a charter?
Your fare includes bait, tackle, rod/reel, fish cleaning, fishing instruction, and email digital photos of your trip.
Do I need a fishing license to fish on your boat?
Yes. If you are 15 years of age or older, you will need a saltwater fishing license for the day you are fishing, including a catch record if the species requires it. The nearest locations to purchase a fishing license are Ace Hardware in Anacortes & Oak Harbor or Holiday Sports in Mt Vernon. We are a licensed dealer and carry one-day licenses at the office for $10.50 each. Be sure to ask Captain Chris if these are available for your day of fishing.
What do I need to bring for my trip?
- Sun block, hat, sunglasses and a camera. Multiple layers of clothes are suggested. The weather can vary greatly throughout the day from very cool in the morning to quite warm in the afternoon. Warm clothes for the chilly days, rain gear for the rainy days.
- Any food and beverages you would like for duration of the trip.
- Comfortable shoes. No hard-soled shoes please.
- Sea sick prevention pills or patch. If you feel you are susceptible to motion sickness, we suggest you take Dramamine or any other brand the night before your trip, then just before you get on board. All local pharmacies carry them, as well as patches for more advanced cases.
What should I leave behind?
Please do not bring the following aboard. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
- Illegal Drugs or contraband. This includes marijuana as we are a federally licensed vessel. Violation will result in returning to the dock and forfeiture of all paid fees.
- Hard liquor
- Hard Soled shoes (Boat shoes or sneakers are suggested)
Can I bring alcoholic beverages aboard?
You are welcome to bring beer or wine and consume in moderation. No hard liquor of any type is permitted. Any overindulgence will result in returning to the dock and forfeiture of all fees paid.
Can I bring my own rods/reels and tackle?
You can if you wish, however it is not necessary as we provide them for you on board.
Can I bring a cooler on board?
You may bring a small cooler on board for your personal use. We do suggest you bring a cooler in your vehicle to carry your fish home in.
What time do we leave?
Departure times are flexible based on the type of trip you are booking but usually leave at 6 AM. Your captain will assist you in deciding your departure time and location while you are planning your trip.

What is your cancellation policy?
By making a reservation you are agreeing to our cancelation Policy. To receive a full refund of your deposit, minus a $30 processing fee, we ask that you give us no less than 14 days notice prior to scheduled departure time. Cancellations with less than 14 days notice will be charged 50% of the trip cost including tax. Inside 7 days 100% of total cost of the entire trip is due and non-refundable. We realize things come up. Let us know as soon as possible if a conflict arises and we will do our best to reschedule your trip.

Trips cancelled by us any time prior to departure, due to weather, mechanical, or other unforeseen circumstances will afford a full refund.
How long does the trip last?
A typical charter will run 6-8 hours from check in time until we return to the dock. Sightseeing trips can be customized, but usually run 4 hours. Additional time can be scheduled for each trip upon availability. Ask your Captain for details.
Can we keep what we catch?
Yes you can, however, you must stay within legal size and bag limits on all species of which such limits apply. Here’s a link to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
